Columbia has good showing at USM Cross Country Meet
Despite being probably the smallest school entered in the Golden Eagle Cross Country Classic, the Columbia Academy Boys Cross Country team showed they could run with the big boys. The Cougars placed 5 runners in the top-40 scoring a respectable 120 points to finish 4th. Channing Stringer led the Cougars finishing 8th in a time of 18:35.44 on a very wet and muddy course. Jon Luke Watts was 16th with 19:23.24, Issac Hitt, 29th (19:51.16), Adam Ham, 31st (19:56.16), and Jamie Thweatt finished 40th with 20:33.58.
The Cougars have two meets remaining on their schedule before attempting a three-peat AA championship on October 26. Their next meet is the Mississippi College Invitational at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, MS on Oct. 5th, and then they host the Columbia Academy Invitational at the Columbia Water Park on Oct. 13th.
