Time Off the Cure

After seven months away from MAIS sports due to priorities being shifted 100% towards family health issues I've been re-energized and I'm currently considering the most efficient approach needed in providing an outlet to high school sports fans who have great interest in their schools.
Providing adequate coverage to all three classes in the MAIS has proven not to be feasible in the manner in which I attempted the past three years, therefore a scaled down version may be the most prudent manner in that regard.
My roots are planted firmly in Class AA athletics so it would make sense to focus on that particular area unless I can secure sufficient support to expand back into Class AAA and Class A sports.
I'm asking for feedback from you. What kind of coverage do you want? Articles, opinion, audio interviews?
Please answer the poll question on the right side of the page and leave a comment or email me at aafandaman@yahoo.com or text 985-750-3455.
From the Notebook..................
**Although five weeks still remain in the 2011 regular season it’s not too early to pontificate the post season train wreck that will once again short-change fans who want to see the best teams play for championships. The too convenient and effortless manner in which the playoff format is structured will once again produce a second round elimination match up between the best two teams in Class AA who rank among the top five best squads in the entire MAIS.
Providing top ranked Simpson and second ranked Trinity avoid total implosion over the next six weeks those two squads will square off in a round two meeting that in all likelihood will take place in Mendenhall on November 11th.
The other round two match up in South AA that same night could be another Centreville/Brookhaven battle with the winner traveling to Mendenhall or Natchez the following week.
It’s time for the MAIS to get creative and take a hard look at instituting a smarter playoff format that allows the best teams to have the opportunity to compete for championships.
**Trinity will be looking to notch their 26th straight MAIS win this Friday as the Saints host Central Private. Trinity last lost to an MAIS opponent on October 16th, 2009 in a 27-6 defeat at Centreville.
**Game of the week this week has to be a District 1-AA collision between 3rd ranked Marshall (6-0) and 4th ranked North Delta (5-1). North Delta won in Batesville last season 26-10 en-route to winning a district championship.
**Don’t look now but ASC has reeled off three straight victories, all district wins, in the tough District 3-A battleground. The Rebs should make it four straight as they host Union Christian this Friday night in Liberty.
**Also playing well are the Bowling Green Buccaneers who under the direction of new head coach Carmen Moore have mounted a 4-2 record after a disappointing 3-8 2010 campaign. I predicted in week one that the Bucs would improve as the season progressed and qualify for the playoffs. A win at Silliman this Friday would push the rebuilding program under Moore closer to that goal.
**I’ve put a lot of thought lately into what I think have been some of the best interviews I’ve done with coaches over the past several years and I’ll share those thoughts soon. I think it will be an enjoyable read.
