Carroll boys hit with first loss of the season

The Carroll Academy Rebels dropped their first game of the season with a 77-69 decision to DeSoto (Ark.) here Monday in the first round of the Carroll Tournament.
DeSoto led 29-18 at the end of the first period and 54-35 at the half. C.J. Hodges had 25 points, and Nick Mumme added 19. The Rebels bounced back later in the day to beat Benton 67-53 to improve to 12-1. Breland Marett led the way with 14 points, while Mumme and Hayden Harrell had nine points each.
The Rebels close out the two-day event today at 6:30 p.m. against Washington School. The Lady Rebels beat DeSoto 50-31 as Memrie Corley scored a team-high 20 points. The CA girls beat Benton 49-43 as Corley pumped in 19 points. Haley Liddell and Ashley Barry added 12 points each.
