The Carroll Academy Rebels kept their perfect record in tact with a 62-60 win over Manchester here Tuesday night in the District 2-AA opener for both teams.
The Rebels (9-0, 1-0) led by as many as 17 early in the third period, but let Manchester (2-6) back in it with their struggles on the offensive end. "Our guys got tired and made a lot of mistakes," CA coach Steve Flemming said, "but I am sure proud of the way they hung in there and handled some adversity." C.J. Hodges and Ken Daves led the Rebels with 16 points each, while Breland Marett chipped in with 10. Carroll led 25-17 at the end of the first period, 37-24 at the half and 44-38 at the end of the third.
In girls' action, Carroll beat Manchester 52-40 as Haley Liddell scored a team-high 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.Memrie Corley and Skylar Alford had 10 points each.In junior high action, the CA girls won 38-23. Shelby Hoover had 12 points, and Nicole Waltman added nine.
