The Glenbrook Apaches continued their outstanding 2009-10 basketball season with an impressive 68-33 win over Cenla Christian Academy Tuesday night.
With the win, the Apaches will now play River Oaks on Friday in a one-game playoff to determine the district championship.
The Apaches struggled early, as Cenla led 15-7 after the first quarter, then rolled to the easy win.
“Obviously, we got off to a slow start tonight,” Glenbrook head coach Chris Kourvelas said. “So we had to make some adjustments at the quarter break, which we did. The rest of the game we played very well. We still had some mental mistakes, but all in all we played well.”
Glenbrook out-scored Cenla 61-18 the rest of the way.
“At this time of the year, you want to be playing your best basketball,” Kourvelas said. “And I believe we are. I think we’re starting to reach our potential; however, we still have a ways to go before our true potential is met.”
Coltan Spurlock had an outstanding game as he scored 36 points, pulled down 17 rebounds and added five steals and five assists. Thomas Beam also had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Glenbrook will play River Oaks Friday night at 7 p.m. in the neutral court at Union Christian in Farmerville. the game will determine not only the district champion, but also the top seed for next week’s South A tournament.
