Wendy's High School Heisman finalists from Columbia
Two Columbia Academy student-athlete seniors were named as Mississippi State finalists in the Wendy's High School Heisman award competition. Tanner Pace and Ashton Scarborough were among the 10 male and 10 female students chosen to be honored in the program which recognizes the best of high school athletic and academic achievement. Pace and Scarborough both maintain above a 4.0 GPA and participate in numerous other activities.
Pace, son of Paul and Tracey Pace, is a member of the CA football, basketball, cross-country and track teams. In October, he placed third individually in the state championship cross country meet and last year, placed third in the state championship track meet in the 400m dash. He was selected all-district in basketball 3 years and football his junior year. He serves as Student Body Secretary and is a member of Honor Society, Key Club, and Mu Alpha Theta. Pace placed first and second in district ABC competitions in Algebra II and Advanced Math an
d scored a 28 on his ACT.
Scarborough, the daughter of Don and Leslie Scarborough, is a member of the fast-pitch softball, basketball, cheerleading, and track teams at CA. She has been named all-district basketball for 3 years, all south-state 2 years, and all-district in fast-pitch 1 year. She also placed 3rd in the state in the 100 meter dash her sophomore year. She serves as Student Body President, president of DECA and Crown Club, and is a member of Key Club, Honor Society, BETA, and Mu Alpha Theta. Scarborough placed first and third in district ABC competitions in Algebra II and Advanced Math and scored a 30 on her ACT.
