Lady Cougars claim another AAA victim

The Class AA top ranked Brookhaven Lady Cougars chalked up another win over a Class AAA opponent as the defending MAIS Overall Champions took a 43-27 win over Parklane in McComb last night. Laura Beth Wright had game high honors with 16 points and Terah Winborne added 10 as Brookhaven improved to 6-1 on the season.
Parklane would enjoy a lead just once on the night. Molly Adams canned an 18 foot jumper to give the Lady Pioneers an quick 2-0 lead but Brookhaven put together a 13-5 run the remainder of the opening quarter behind the play of seniors Wright and Winborne who combined for 9 of Brookhaven’s 13 first quarter points.
Parklane would pull to within six points at 17-11 on an Emily Alford baseline jumper from 12 feet at the 5:44 mark of the second quarter but they would get no closer. Brookhaven finished the final five minutes of the half on a 9-2 run as Laura Beth Wright canned four free throws and nailed two jumpers to thrust the Lady Cougars to a 26-13 halftime lead.

Brookhaven went up 41-23 to grab their biggest lead of the night at the 4:01 mark of the fourth quarter and coasted to a 43-27 road win.
Laura Beth Wright led all scorers with 16 points, Terah Winborne added 10, Carey Crozier 8, Destiny Allen 4, Madison Warren 3 and Lindsey Winborne 2.
Parklane was led by Teryn Chandler with 9 points, Molly Adams had 8, Kim Klunk 6 and Emily Alford 4.
Next up for Brookhaven will be a home date with Silliman on Thursday.
