Lady Raiders Win District Championship
The Lady Raiders (24-4) beat River Oaks 20-0 at home
Monday night to claim their first district championship since 1998. Bouncing
back from an early loss to Glenbrook, the Lady Raiders came back strong to
finish 5-1 in district play.
Lauchlyn Emfinger was the lone senior recognized at
senior night following Monday’s game. She led the Lady Raiders with 3 hits, 3
runs scored and 2 RBI’s. Riley Bridges and Erin Branch contributed 2 hits
apiece while Michaela Lewis, Cherie Tanner, Natalie Foster, and Joanna Franklin
each added 1. Franklin got the shutout in the circle.
The Lady Raiders, #1 seed out of 3AA, will play in the
North State Tournament in Cleveland, MS on Saturday. They are scheduled to play
Winona Christian, the #3 seed out of district 1AA. This also marks the first
playoff appearance in softball since ’98.
