Week three recap
Washington 32 Starkville 21
Gore Pulliam led Washington to a key North AAA victory Friday
night, running for two scores and passing for another in a 32-21 win over
Starkville.

Bobby Elliott also had a big night with a 63 yard
interception return and a 50 yard reception from Gore Pulliam in the third
quarter.
Landon Zepponi rounded out the scoring for the Generals as he
broke multiple tackles en route to a 60 yard touchdown run in the fourth
quarter.
Ben Barr and Michael Bruton had big nights for the Generals
defensively.
Washington will be at home again next week to host River
Oaks.
Starkville will host Hillcrest.
Washington improved to 2-0 while Starkville slipped to 1-2.
Lamar 40 East Rankin 10
Davis Harrison passed for a touchdown and rushed for another
to lead Lamar past East Rankin 40-10 in a Class AAA Division II matchup in
Meridian on Friday night.
Harrison went 6/8 for 88 yards and a touchdown and rushed for
124 yards on 15 carries and a score in helping Lamar improve to 3-0 on the
season.
Lee Martin also scored a pair of touchdowns as did Jackson
Turner.
Martin had 3 receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown and
rushed for 74 yards and another score while Turner rushed for 44 yards and 2
touchdowns.
Lamar will host Jackson Prep in a week four battle while East
Rankin (0-3) entertains Tri-County.
River Oaks 41 Glenbrook 24
Senior tailback Garrett Morgan rushed for 151 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown and junior fullback Drake Porter added 115 yards on 19 carries and 2 touchdowns as River Oaks improved to 2-1 on the season.
River Oaks pulled away from Glenbrook after holding a slim 20-18 lead at the halfway mark of the night.
The Mustangs rushed for 348 yards on the night .
River Oaks travels to Washington on Friday while Glenbrook (1-2) hosts Cenla Christian.
Simpson 28 Canton 0
The Class AA top ranked Simpson Cougars piled up 336 yards on the ground while holding Canton to 50 in taking a 28-0 road win.
Tailback Daniel Taylor led the Cougar ground attack with 143 yards on 17 carries and 2 touchdowns. Senior quarterback Mason Herrin added 77 yards on 7 carries and a touchdown, Maverick Harrison totaled 67 yards on 7 carries and a score and Hayden Benton contributed with 35 yards.
Simpson (3-0) will host Leake next week while Canton (2-1) travels to Newton.

Benton 21 Sylva Bay 20
Benton knocked Sylva Bay from the ranks of the unbeaten with
a 21-20 nail-biter at Benton on Friday night.
Benton tailback Kent Manor rushed for 120 yards on 23 carries
and scored 3 touchdowns to help the Raider’s improve to 2-1 on the season.
Manor also played a critical role on the defensive side of
the football with a 56 yard pick six and 15 tackles.
Quarterback Ben Street rushed for 40 yards and had 9 stops on
defense.
Barrett Whitworth contributed with 12 tackles and Hunter Cox
13 on the night for Benton.
Next up for the Raiders will be Carroll Academy in Benton while
Sylva Bay (2-1) hosts Park Place.
Trinity 64 Central Private 16
Senior quarterback Michael Whitley led the Class A top ranked
Trinity Saints to a blowout win in Natchez.
Whitley went 10/12 for 162 yards and 5 touchdowns as Trinity
remained perfect on the season at 3-0.
Jake Pender led the Trinity run game with 78 yards on 4
carries and a touchdown while Dre McCoy hauled in 3 catches for 60 yards and 2
touchdowns and on special teams play Trey Hall had a 61 yard punt return for a
touchdown.
Trinity racked up 349 total yards while holding Central
Private to 25 on the night.
Trinity will next host Porter’s Chapel while Central Private
(0-3) welcomes Adams Christian.
Cenla 55 Union Christian 0
Sophomore quarterback Peyton Gauthier passed for 363 yards and
6 touchdowns as Cenla Christian shut-out Union Christian Friday night.
Gautheir’s numbers on the night were 9/14 for 363, 6
touchdowns, 1 int.
Cenla wide-out Kylnd Joiner had 2 receptions for 106 yards
and 2 touchdowns while fellow wide-out Kofi Bieniemy had 2 catches for 70
yards, a touchdown and also had a 60 yard punt return for a score.
Cory Hampton contributed with a 48 yard punt return and a 36
yard interception for touchdowns.
Cenla (2-1) will travel to Glenbrook on Friday while Union
Christian (0-3) hosts ASC.
West Memphis 36 Lee (AR) 8
Sophomore quarterback Trevor Pagan went 6/8 for 305 yards and
4 touchdowns in one half of play as the West Memphis Black Knights notched
their first win of the season.
Wide-out Rickey Patterson had 3 receptions for 149 yards and
2 touchdowns.
West Memphis (1-2) will host Bayou next while Lee (AR)
travels to Greenville Christian.
Columbia 23 Ben’s Ford 13
Columbia pulled away after a 7-6 first quarter deficit to
defeat Ben’s Ford on the road on Friday night.
Ben’s Ford tailback Aaron Taylor got the home-standing Eagles
out front with an 83 yard touchdown run with 2:56 remaining in the opening
quarter but Columbia would respond with 15 straight points.
Robert Brown’s 4 yard run just before the end of the opening
quarter pulled the Cougars to within a point and a Caleb Batie 1 yard plunge at
the 3:45 mark of the second quarter put Columbia in front for good at 12-7.
Logan Cooke would extend the lead to 15-7 with a 46 yard
field goal three minutes into the second half.
Ben’s Ford clawed back as Destin Pittman darted 32 yards for
a score on the ensuing possession to trim the deficit to 15-13 but Columbia
would finish the final quarter with a defensive stop on Ben’s Ford tailback
Aaron Taylor in the Eagle’s end-zone for a safety and Wiley Cleland’s 16 yard
quarterback keeper at the 7:03 mark to salt away the win.
Columbia (2-1) will be at Wayne next Friday while Ben’s Ford
(2-1) heads to Prentiss.
