Thursday night recap......
*The Kirk Raiderettes improved to 24-1 on the season with a 51-21 home win over Carroll last night. Courtney Parella had a game high 12 points and Holly Wells added 11 (three 3’s) as the 3rd ranked Raiderettes had little resistance from the Lady Rebels. Kirk travels to Holly Springs on Saturday to take on district foe Marshall as they try to lock down the top seed in the upcoming district 1AA tournament to be held at Indianola.
Also scoring for Kirk on the night was Beth Mann with 7 points, Katie Lee Jones, Kelsey Marter, Jordan Rutland and Marah Evans all had 4 apiece, Carmen Woods and Emily Lundy had 2 each and Audra Woods had 1.
Carroll was led by Memie Corley with 10 points, Skylar Alford added 5, Kacy Beavers 4 and Faith McCorkle had 2.
With the loss Carroll slips to 10-11. Carroll will host Winston tonight in a district 2AA matchup.
*In the boy’s game Carroll improved to 17-4 with a 61-47 win over Kirk. Nick Mumme had a game high 21 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Rebels. CJ Hodges added 15 points, Breland Marett had 11, Hayden Harrell 7, Ken Daves 4, Justin Blaylock 2 and Andrew Wright 1.
Kirk slipped to 3-15 with the loss. The Raiders were led by Shane Provine with 13 points, James Henderson added 8, Will Thimmes and Kris Harbin had 7 each, Sayle Roberts 5, Reid Walker and Sam Denley 2 apiece.
*River Oaks earned a 79-63 road win over Franklin as the 5th ranked Mustangs improved to 14-2 on the season. Senior Martez Sellers led all scorers with 30 points, Vincent Moore recorded a triple-double as the junior scored 14 points, hauled down 12 rebounds, dished out 10 assists and had 5 steals, Slade Daniel added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Darryl Barnes chipped in with 11 points. The Mustangs travel to Bastrop tonight to take on Prairie View in a district 6AA confrontation.
