The past two meetings between Bowling Green and Centreville resulted in lopsided wins for the Buccaneers but last night proved to be anything but that. Centreville grabbed a 6-4 first quarter lead on a Colby Lockwood end-to-end drive at the 4:51 mark. Bowling Green answered by running off eight straight points culminating on Russell Perry’s steal and lay-in with 1:42 left in the opening quarter for a 12-6 lead. Bowling Green would finish the quarter on a Jaron Edwards drive for a basket and a 14-10 lead.

Bowling Green built some breathing room in the first two minutes of the third quarter on a Dylan Varnado basket, a Shod Fortenberry free throw and a Varnado steal and lay-in that pushed the Buccaneer lead to 23-15. Bowling Green maintained at least a six point cushion until the 1:34 mark when Centreville reeled off six straight points to tie the game at 29-29. Bowling Green broke the tie on a 3-pointer at the buzzer from Jaron Edwards to take a 32-29 lead into the final quarter.
