Carroll Academy opened play in the J.Z. George Tournament Saturday morning with a 9-4 win over Ruleville High School in North Carrollton.
Ty Higginbotham (2-0) got the win in relief. He pitched the final inning, allowing no runs, no hits and striking of two. The game was tied at 4-4 through three innings and Carroll scored five runs in the home half of the fourth.Jake Streeter went 2 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on four hits, walking two and striking out four. Clay Perry, the starter, got one out to start the game, but allowed one run on two hits, walking one and fanning one.Higginbotham did damage at the plate as well, hitting a home run and a double and driving in two runs. Marett and Hodges had two doubles each with Hodges driving in two runs. Bingham and Perry had RBI doubles.
