Lamar senior Witt Haggard carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning Thursday at Canton Academy. Unfortunately, the Panthers came up with two hits and took advantage of a Raider error to rally for a 3-2 win. Haggard, who struck out eight and allowed just the two late hits — including the game-winning two-run single up the middle, fell to 3-3. Canton had tied the game in the sixth at 1 without a hit, getting a hit batter and an error to score. Lamar, though, regained the lead in the top of the seventh, when Dylan Rivers was hit and then advanced to second on a passed ball. Gunnar Catlett then knocked him in before Canton's rally. The Raiders, who fell to 8-6 and 2-3 in the division, visit Hillcrest Christian on Monday.
