Leake
scored ten seconds into the contest as Mary Grace Key converted a Lamar
turnover into a transition basket but the theme of the first quarter would be
the torrid shooting of senior guard Hannah Peoples.
Peoples
would nail a 3-pointer from the top of the key to give the Rebelettes an early
5-0 lead but Lamar fought back as Allison Justus canned a 17 foot jumper and
Natalie Williams hit from 15 feet to pull the Lady Raiders to 5-4 with 6:04
left in the opening quarter.
Peoples
hit another 3-pointer, this time from the wing, to push the Leake lead to 8-4
and the guard displayed her patented jumper at the 4:12 mark with her third
3-pointer to extend the advantage to 13-6 but back came Lamar.
Allison
Justus hit her second jumper of the quarter and the Lady Raiders got past the
Leake press as Lallie Bennet served up an assist to Allie Shirley for a
transition bucket to trim the deficit to 13-10 with 3:04 left in the quarter.

corner and after Lamar’s Allie Shriley hit from 15 feet out Leake would begin
to pull away.
Hannah
Peoples hit a 3-pointer from the deep corner and then made Lamar pay after a
turnover as the senior drained her fifth 3-pointer of the quarter to extend the
Leake lead to 22-12 with 1:01 remaining in the quarter.
A
fast break basket from Mary Grace Key and a Peoples offensive rebound and put
back gave Leake their biggest lead at 26-12 with 21 seconds left in the first
quarter.
Lamar
would get an Allison Justus basket to close the quarter looking at a 26-14
deficit.
Leake
would open the second quarter with a 9-2 run to grab their biggest lead at
