Week four recap
Oak Hill 20 Winston 15
Joseph Caskey’s 30 yard touchdown run on 4th and 1 with 1:09 remaining in the game propelled Oak Hill to a 20-15 District 2-AA win over Winston in West Point on Friday night.
Drew Riley rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown and Drake Riley rushed for 73 yards and had 15 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble on defense.
Joseph Caskey contributed with 13 tackles and a forced fumble.
Oak Hill improved to 2-2 and will travel to Newton next week while Winston falls to 0-4 and will host Central Holmes.
Simpson 24 Leake 0
Senior tailback Daniel Taylor rushed for 110 yards and scored 2 touchdowns as Class AA top ranked Simpson shut-out 7th ranked Leake 24-0 in Mendenhall.
Simpson quarterback Mason Herrin went 7/8 for 69 yards and the Cougar defense held Leake to 127 total yards on the night.
Simpson moves to 4-0 and will travel to Hattiesburg next week to take on Presbyterian.
Leake falls to 2-2 and visits 2nd ranked Tri-County.
North Delta 45 Kirk 27
North Delta quarterback Hays Hudson ran for 154 yards and a touchdown and went 4/5 for 87 yards and a touchdown to lead the Green Wave to a District 1-AA road win.
Chase Coker rushed for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns and had 2 receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown as North Delta evened their season mark at 2-2.
North Delta will host Bayou next week while Kirk (1-3) travels to Pillow.
Benton 34 Carroll 0
The 6th ranked Benton Raiders improved to 3-1 with a 34-0 shut-out win over Carroll in Benton on Friday night.
Tailback Kent Manor rushed for 258 yards and scored 2 touchdowns and quarterback Ben Street went 5/5 and 2 touchdowns to lead the Raiders.
Benton travels to Greenville Christian next week, Carroll (1-3) will host Indianola.
Starkville 49 Hillcrest 8
Starkville Academy raced out to a 42-0 halftime lead en-route to a 49-8 home win over Hillcrest.
Quarterback Houston Clark rushed for 98 yards and 2 scores and passed for another and tailback Grant Wolfe rushed for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns as Starkville improved to 2-2 on the season.
Starkville will visit Magnolia Heights next week while Hillcrest (1-3) entertains Heritage.
Columbia 28 Wayne 7
Columbia tailback Caleb Batie rushed for 144 yards on 24 carries and 2 touchdowns and quarterback Wiley Cleland passed for 2 touchdowns to propel the Cougar win.
Columbia improves to 3-1 and will host Oak Forest next week while Wayne (0-4) hosts Sylva Bay.
Washington 28 River Oaks 0
The Washington Generals defeated the River Oaks Mustangs 28-0 Friday night in Greenville. With the win, Washington moves to 3-0 on the season. Roman Fratesi had a "dream night" for the Generals scoring four touchdowns, with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Landon Zepponi led all rushers with 70 yards on 16 carries. In the passing department, Gore Pulliam also had a good night completing 6 of 8 passes for 96 yards. Bobby Elliott was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 67 yards. Roman Fratesi, Michael Bruton, and Colton Haynes led the Generals defensively. Next Friday night the Generals travel to Clarksdale to take on the undefeated Lee Colts.
River Oaks falls to 2-2 and will travel to Riverdale.
Trinity 43 Porter’s Chapel 0
The Class A top ranked Trinity Saints remained perfect on Friday night with a 43-0 home shut-out win over Porter’s Chapel.
Senior quarterback Michael Whitley went 9/10 for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns in limited action as Trinity improved to 4-0.
Wide-out Dre McCoy had 5 receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown and Dee Fleming rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Trinity will take on Prairie View next week while Porter’s Chapel (2-2) hosts WCCA.
