Colonels picked up where they left off last year as they went 3-0 in the Adams Christian Pre-Season Tournament in Natchez last week.
*In the first game, Ben Boone, 1-0, pitched 2 innings of no-hit ball and struck out 5 as CA beat Wilkinson County Christian Academy 8-3 in 3 innings. The senior righthander also helped his own cause as he walked 3 times, stole 3 bases, and scored 2 runs. The other offensive star for the Colonels was Hunter Renfroe, who had a home run and a double, scored 2 runs, and drove in 4 runs.
*In the second game, Copiah scored 7 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Colonels rallied to beat Tensas Academy 8-4. CA scored an unearned run in the first, but trailed 4-1 going into the fourth. The Colonels scored one run on Michael Bagley’s bases-loaded walk. Three more runs scored on Boone’s bases-loaded single, and Renfroe capped the inning with a 3-run home run.
*In the final game of the day, CA scored in all 3 innings as the Colonels blasted Porters Chapel 11-4. Copiah scored 3 runs on 3 passed balls in the bottom of the first. The Colonels added 5 more runs in the second on Boone’s 2-run double, Mitch Little’s RBI-single, and a pair of passed balls.

Lamar rolls past Wayne Academy

Lamar took advantage of 12 walks handed out by Wayne Academy hurlers Friday in an 18-0 win in four innings. Lamar, which improved to 2-0, got a two-run home run from Harrison Thomas in the first inning. Dylan Rivers started for Lamar, striking out three in two innings. Gunnar Catlett pitched two innings in relief for the Raiders, striking out two.
